This Victoria necklace features imagery from an 18th-century French transferware pot à sucre, decorated with a polychrome petit feu marine scene accented by floral garlands. Produced around 1780 in Moustiers, the design reflects the region’s celebrated faience tradition, where seafaring imagery and ornament were brought together for refined domestic objects. Finished with a hessonite garnet drop, the piece carries warmth and depth, echoing the palette and spirit of the original ceramic.

Collectors Notes:Moustiers faience was known for its elegant balance of narrative and decoration, often combining maritime scenes with floral embellishment. The original vessel—signed “Fouque à Moustiers” and now held at the Musée national de Céramique in Sèvres—was created to bring beauty into everyday ritual. I was drawn to this image for its sense of motion softened by ornament, and paired it with hessonite garnet for its earthy warmth, recalling glaze, kiln, and the hand of the maker.
