Dragons have long been seen as guardians of hidden wisdom, often shown entwined with the moon and stars as keepers of cosmic balance. This piece draws on that celestial imagery: the shimmer of quartz evoking clarity and light, while an array of garnets—in shades of red, green, yellow, and brown—reflect the varied fire of the earth. Accented with the protective glow of golden obsidian, the necklace carries the dragon as both a celestial and earthly guide, linking the mysteries of the night sky with the grounded strength of stone.







Measurements & Fit


Full necklace length with pendant attached: Adjustable from approximately 17” to 22.5”


Necklace alone (worn as a lariat): Approximately 13” to 18.5”; does not have a traditional clasp but is designed so the star-shaped ends can slip through each other for closure


Pendant dimensions: Approximately 4” wide and hangs just over 5” long







The Pendant


The centerpiece of this work began with an extraordinary artisan-soldered pendant made from jewelry-grade, lead-free solder. I was immediately drawn to the blend of intricate elements:


An ornate brass spoon base


A pewter moon cradling a perched dragon


Cast metal greenery rising behind the figure


A stunning quartz point set above it all







To bring my own creative voice to the piece, I wrapped the top in oxidized sterling silver wire, adding my signature textured sterling moons. Nestled between them are gemstone briolettes that resemble speckled tourmalinated quartz—these stones appear throughout the necklace as well. I then added Herkimer quartz diamonds, wrapped with Swarovski crystals for a subtle sparkle, and finished each side of the pendant with my own forged sterling silver hook clasps.







Yes—clasps, plural. This pendant is designed with two hooks so it can be worn with the included necklace, paired with a simpler chain of your own, styled on a scarf, or even hung up for display. I wanted it to be as versatile and personalizable as possible.







The Necklace


The necklace is a statement on its own, rich with texture and detail. It includes:


Speckled gemstone briolettes (similar to tourmalinated quartz)


Faceted mixed green garnet rounds in red, brown, yellow, and green hues


Quartz diamonds


Golden obsidian cubes


Swarovski crystals


2mm faceted rounds of black spinel and golden obsidian







At each end are sections of sterling silver chain with alternating loop sizes that enhance the adjustable nature of the piece. These segments also serve a decorative purpose, completing the necklace with thoughtful detail. Hanging from either side is a textured sterling silver star charm. These stars not only add whimsy but also act as functional links for clasping the necklace in lariat style.


Decorating the extender chains are additional accents: quartz diamonds, tundra sapphires, green tourmaline, black spinel, golden obsidian, and more Swarovski crystals.












This piece was designed to be worn high on the neck, allowing the star charms to hang like celestial accents—mirroring the dragon perched on the moon below. It\'s more than a necklace. It tells a story. It’s a wearable art object, a statement, and a showpiece all in one.
