Vintage Navajo Native American necklace featuring Morenci turquoise and sterling silver pendant in sterling silver chained. Signed “BJ 925.”
Morenci Turquoise originates from a mine in Southern Arizona, which was a predominate producer of natural gemstones used in Southwestern and Native American Jewelry. The Morenci Turquoise mine was famous for its true blue turquoise, often having a Pyrite matrix commonly in iron or, rarer, in golden pyrite. The Morenci mine closed to turquoise mining in 1984, making this type of turquoise scare and valuable today.
