The \"MT3\" chair, an innovative creation by Ron Arad, is based on the concept of vacuum. The acronym \"MT3\" is pronounced \"empty,\" which means \"empty,\" and emptiness is the key element of this project. This one-piece polyethylene chair is distinguished by its hollowed-out volume, revealing its interior finished in two colors. This bold result is made possible through a two-step rotary molding process. Initially, polyethylene in the color of the outer shell is molded. Then, a second color is inserted, without fusion with the first, thanks to an operation carried out in the blast furnaces.
After being removed from the mold, a five-axis laser cuts the side ends of the product, exposing the two-color side of the \"MT3\" chair. This piece is designed for indoor and outdoor use, providing both durability and style.
Navigating without complexes between art, design and architecture, Ron Arad is a free and impertinent artist who defines himself as \"No Discipline\". Born in Tel Aviv in 1951, this adopted Londoner imposed a recognizable style, largely dominated by the curve, as evidenced by his Big Easy armchair (1988, Moroso) or his Bookworm shelf (1994, Kartell). Ron Arad founded his first studio One Off Ltd in 1981 with Caroline Thormann.
Driade considers itself an aesthetic laboratory, founded in 1968, the Italian company was born at the same time as the trends that characterized the 20th century; geometric design and the revival of Pop-art.
During the 1950s, Giulio Carlo Argan already argued that design had become the \"popular art\" of the 21st century. Read by many and for a long time as utopian information, this prophecy has become reality in the Driade store catalog. Made using plastic, ecological and recyclable materials, Driade store pieces are intended to convey a unique vision of design.
