Determining Total Length

To discover if the S&P PV-DEDPV dryer exhaust duct power ventilator can be used for their dryer, customers must determine the total equivalent length of the dryer duct.

First, add all of the straight pieces of duct together, including all duct between the exhaust outlet and the vent cap. Then, add five feet for every 90-degree elbow or bend, plus five feet for the dryer vent cap to find the total equivalent length. This total must be within these parameters:

  Temperature Range: The PV-DEDPV is suitable for indoor environments only, with temperature ranges of 40 degrees F to 140 degrees F.

  Mounting Location: Choose a mounting location that allows maintenance accessibility to the cleanout duct sections and orients the fan so that air flows in the exhaust direction.

  Secondary Lint Trap:  A Secondary Lint Trap must be installed between the dryer and the PV-DEDPV if it is located less than 15 linear feet from the clothes dryer exhaust outlet. A  Secondary Lint Trap should be installed between the clothes dryer and DEDPV if it is located less than 25 linear feet from the clothes dryer exhaust outlet.
